Captain Ginyu is the leader and senior member of an elite group of mercenaries known as the Ginyu Force. One of the unusual features of the Ginyu Force is their ability to "strike a pose". Captain Ginyu takes this very seriously, although most of the poses are quite comical. But pity the rookie who takes this posing lightly, for the militant Captain has no patience with slackers.

Together with Jeice, Burter and Guldo, this team was hired by the evil Frieza to capture all of the Dragon Balls on the planet Namek, and thereby grant him a wish for whatever he desires.
